Memory

You have to begin to lose your memory, if only in bits and pieces, to realize that memory is what makes our lives. Life without memory is no life at all, just as an intelligence without the possibility of expression is not really an intelligence. Our memory is our coherence, our reason, our feeling, even our action. Without it, we are nothing. ~ Luis Buñuel

Incredible tune, says so much. I like the idea of life as a basket.

So there's a puzzle I work on endlessly I've got the sides and all the corners But there's a space But there's a space Lost some pieces I can't replace.

What is interesting is what the song was actually about - I read it from a blog where the blogger said he had heard - sigh - from the song writer.....but I won't spoil it. The song is usually so much more meaningful through our own interpretations...

Mangan's ode to his grandfather. Every story, experience put into this basket, that becomes you & the idea that you are shaped by everything that's ever happened to you or around you. Getting older, holding onto memories. Redemption. I like the writer's perspective, but so true, our interpretations make the song even more significant. There is so much meaning in this song on a personal level. Yes it makes me think of life but more so of longing and love. One love. And encrypted messages. But I often look too deeply into things and this may be my downfall!
